DJ-Designs v21 by dj-designs DJ-Designs v21 by dj-designs
Put it online a couple of days ago. I like it way better than the previous layout. I got bored of it fairly fast.
I really didnt know what I was going to do with v21 when starting on it. I just started with a blank white page and created what I thought looked good for the next step and it made alot of changes during the creation of it. Just let my creativity go nuts without having a goal really. The tiling was a bitch! It was fairly painful to make the background tile with the shapes on the left side on the layout. But nothing's impossible right?

I really like that layout, especially the gras and the naturestuff, a quiet good userfriendly webinterface. keep it up ;)

this is a damned awesome and original layout. some elements are obviously done before as they are common natural items, but never so cohesively and beautifully.

my only gripe is the red. it's a bit too harsh imo. i know there needs to be a contrast so the interactive areas do not blend into the stagnant areas of decoration, and stick out more, but it seems a little garish, compared to the gfx.

I stopped the work and thought about the red at least one time. I tried a few other different colors but I really couldn't find one that I liked as much as the red so I stuck with it. Thanks.

It's been there since may right? I think a site should be redesigned every half year or so to keep the visitors happy

i think so too, it's boring to see webpages with the same layout over a year or so, especially portfolios from artists.

Yeah its kinda sad, and I have barely updated it at all since then. But I've just been way to lazy to do anything about it :dohtwo:

But I'll see what this new year thingy brings for kind of inspiration :)

Learn to make proper screenshots without showing off your ugly Fx setup.

Your average person does not bother paying money for some boring application like SnagIt in order to get a screenshot that does not include the browser window. Most people just hit alt-printscreen and run with it.

Ultimately, is that a problem?

Who says you need to pay money to use SnagIt…

Well excuse me for showing it in the browser as it is viewed. What possible difference does it make? I'm not trying to "show off" anything.

Sorry for being mean, let's be friends.

The best way to take such screenshots without including brower chrome in the picture is with SnagIt — it can even capture scrollable areas.

This is what mine looks like: [link]

I usually just hit alt+printscreen to capture a window. Or just print the whole screen and crop in photoshop.

Looks quite spectacular, nice clean design, everything is clear and easy to navigate!

But what have you done for overflow, surely the images will break :(

Overflow? Not sure what you mean. To many images?

Lets say you type alot of text in one post, do you have an overflow system, so the images dont break, as the text goes downwards?

All of the images tiles so eventual long posts wont screw up any images. The background for the text area doesn't tile though but I have set background properties so that the image doesn't reapeat on any axis, it only shows once vertically.
