Correct fingering? (update)

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 20, 2008, 5:29 AM
The training has gone quite well over the past week and now I never look on the keyboard anymore when I type using the touch type method (except special characters). Not speedy though quite yet, about 120 signs per minute in avarage, but I feel that improves with time.

I can recommend typingmaster.com if you are interested in learning to type using the touch type method.

-----------
How many of you out there use the correct fingering when typing on a keyboard? I never have. I could a long time ago when I was in school as a youth (even without looking at the keyboard) and we had it in class. But back then we didn't have a computer at home (except the c64 for gaming) so that skill got lost. And I can type pretty fast i my own way so I have never bothered learning again.

However, I have long felt the urge to type correctly for some reason, so I have started to learn myself to type using the correct fingering just a few days ago. Breaking old habits that goes many many years back is hard though, and it is not easy at all but I'm comming along quite nicely I think and whatever I type now I do it the "correct" way no matter how long it takes me. I'm motivated to do this. I have even downloaded a Swedish program that will help me with it and it is a very good program which only costs like 5€.

About that keyboard...

I never thought my old school keyboard would draw so much attention in my previous journal. I think it was hilarious.

The only reason for me owning such an old school white, fat and ugly keyboard is that it felt so good under my finger tips. Typing on it was pure sex because it had such nice sexy keys. I didn't buy it because it was nice (duh). I didn't buy it because it was cheap (although it was).

The amount of comments on it by you guys made me look wider than I have ever looked before for a keyboard. Thinking to myself, there must be some newer keyboard out there that I like typing on. So I went searching some sites.

To make a long story short I found a keyboard which interested me and I actually ended up buying it based on the comments it had. The keyboard in question is a Logitech UltraX Media. Now what is it that I like about it that made me abandon my sexy white keyboard that got the attention by so many of you? The answer to that question is that it feels exactly like a laptop keyboard. Flat keys, the same sound and feel as most laptops. I do like the feel of laptop keys and as such I bought it as most comments on it refered to it having laptop keys.

So now I sit here, typing on my new sexy black & silver, flat and good looking keyboard. How about that? All of you that commented on my keyboard, consider you the ones that made me leave my old fat keyboard for this new slim one. Thank you. Happy now?

Widescreen madness

Finally my new NEC LCD2690WUXi monitor has arrived. I got it right after work today. I am happy to declare that out of the 2.304.000 pixels it has none of them are dead or has a sub-pixel error. So I am a happy camper. That combined with the awesome flawless image quality it has it's going to be a joy editing photos from now on. That extra wide space is going to be sweet specially in photoshop. And 1920x1200 resolution on a 26" seems about right for me, as text and such would be somewhat smaller on a 24". I didn't think my previous monitor left much to be desired on the image quality front, but this is even better. And the viewing angles on this A-IPS panel is far better than any other LCD I have seen, the colors/contrast/brightness doesn't shift much at all when viewing from the sides. Very CRT like.

Highly recommended monitor!

I have been double tagged

I HAVE BEEN TAGGED (by *blueslaad & `endosage)

RULES:
1. Post these rules
2. You have to write 8 random facts about yourself
3. Post a journal with this tag
4. Tag 8 more victims
5. Go to their page and leave a comment that tells them they have been tagged
---

ANSWERS:
1. I often get bored of movies I watch on TV towards the end. I like to see the build up of the story and the usual plot in the middle of it, but when it comes to the end and the usual action stuff going on I often quit watching the movie because they are all pretty much the same and you are most likely going to know what happens in the end anyway. This does not apply to cinemas of course.
2. I like to eat frozen fries, meatballs, vegetables (peas, corn and paprica mixed). I also like raw potatoes and sausages. All just seperately though, not as some kind of meal.
3. I do not like being in big crowds. Not that I panic, I just dislike big crowds in general.
4. In a room I'm often the quiet person. I don't always feel comfortable talking if I don't know the persons in the room. I can be somewhat shy.
5. I spend too much money on photography/computer related products that probably only professionals needs. But I am very picky when it comes to quality (both capturing and display) so there is no other choise for me unless I want to be unhappy with my equipment.
6. I have never ever cheated on anyone. Even then I have been dumped many times because I am "too nice". Only now I have found my true love and moving in with her as I type.
7. I like to occasionally smoke marijuana. In the past I have tried all kinds of different drugs like pills, amphetamine, mushrooms, ecstacy and lsd. To be honest I do not regret it one bit and I had a lot of fun, nice experience if you can handle it. All of that is related to the past though except the occasional spliff.
8. If I'm very interested in something, I usually get very good at it quickly by my own no matter what it is. If I'm not , it runs out in the sand.

Old school, really old school...

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 8, 2008, 3:17 PM
I'm not sure anyone of you knows this, I don't think I have ever mentioned it on here (at least I think so). Prior to me beginning with digital design, before I started with photography, way back in time... I mean waaaaay back in time. We are talking 1997-99. I had a period of time when I made music, in fastTracker specifically. Back in the time when I was a happy hardcore fella. I just dug out those old mods from a cd-r I have been laying forever.

This is what actually got me into the graphic scene eventually, 'cause I converted the mods to .wav and then encoded them to mp3's and played them in winamp 1.x (oh the memories). When I saw the great skins created by the legendary winamp skinner ~fli7e who made skins by hacking the .exe file, which eventually made the winamp team make winamp "skinable" by replacing the .bmp files. There it began, I started creating some winamp skins in paint shop pro v4.14 if I remember correctly. And from there it went on to creating websites, desktop backgrounds and other stuff which of some I released for the artgroup Raster that I were a senior member of for a long time. Little did I know that I was also going to become an administrator of this site for several years creating banners, official winamp skins and even some default site designs for deviantART such as v2 of deviantART and eventually v3 which was my best but unfortunately didn't get used because of bandwidth issues. I ended up with the title "vice president, production design" here at deviantART, and so it continued for many years when I worked under the command of °jark, who rocks by the way. The true founder of deviantART. The rest is history, won't go into that.

Hmmm... this ended up as a little biography, didn't really intend to do that when pressing the journal link. Well on to the music. I just listened to these old tracks of mine and it brings back so many memories from me living with my family, spending most of my time hunting sounds and putting stuff together in fastTracker. This is probably going to be a bit embarrassing for me, but I thought I should put up some of those old mods for download so you may have a peak into my very early computer days. You have my permission to laugh, and you will most likely not like that kind of music, but it is a little insight into my creations in the late 90's prior to me doing anything that has with visuals to do. I thought it could be fun. So here you go!

If you have winamp installed, you should be able to play these. I have 5.x and it works. I understand if you skip the listening part though!
